Kundalini Yoga – Mondays 10.00 am – 11.15 am

Kundalini Yoga uses breath correlated with dynamic movement to open up the body’s natural resources of inner vitality.

The yoga is great for any age and ability as all positions can be adapted to suit everyone’s individual flexibility and physical strength.

Postures are followed with the practice of a root lock, which involves contracting the muscles of pelvic floor, anus and of navel. This on its own is extremely helpful, not only as preventative measure for incontinence and prostate issues, but also as a tool to strengthening and promoting both women’s and men’s health at any stage of their lives.

Brockenhurst WI is a thriving group with over 60 members of all ages!

New members are always welcome but if you would prefer to find out more about us before joining, please do come along, free of charge, to one of our regular monthly meetings.

Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month in the Exhibition Room at 19.30.

Access to the room is via a staircase or lift for anyone who struggles with steps. The format of each meeting is fairly simple starting with WI business, followed by a visiting speaker and ending with refreshments. There is nearly always a raffle, a Bring and Buy stall and a competition of some sort.

Throughout the year, we organise outings to the theatre, local places of interest, organised and informative walks, lunches in local hostelries and meetings organised by the wider WI Federation. A general knowledge Quiz takes place annually in which we pit our wits against teams from other local WI groups with winners going forward to other stages of the tournament. If you are into crafts, there is a satellite group which meets regularly on Wednesday afternoons in members homes. Sporty types may be interested in our Walking Netball, Skittles and Darts teams.

Brockenhurst Dance class is is a class for all abilities, commencing with a half-hour ballet warm-up to enhance posture and core strength (no jumping). In the second half-hour, you will explore Cha-cha-cha, Salsa, Samba, Charleston, Lindy Hop and the Blues, as well as other dance styles, including a variety of ethnic and creative, contemporary moves. This class is all about the joy of dance, feeling good and having fun.

Students need to be 19 years old or over. There is no upper age limit.

The New Forest Model Railway Society…

Meets here in the Village Hall on Tuesday evenings from 7.00pm to 10.00pm most weeks [except for
some weeks over the Christmas period].
We are building layouts in N, OO and O gauge and have groups from steam through to modern image.
Construction or alterations are in progress in all scales at the present time.

Brockenhurst Choir is a lively amateur mixed choir of over 80 voices, which meets regularly each week on a Tuesday evening, to rehearse for two annual concerts.  Professional soloists and orchestra join with the choir for performances.

The choir was formed in 1964. They are now under the direction of Alex Eadon. Alex started his musical journey as a boy chorister at King’s College, Cambridge. He then trained at the Royal Academy of Music and has had wide experience as an organist, choir director and orchestral conductor.
