Traditional Building Courses – Local Heritage of New Forest Homes

A series of evening talks aimed at the homeowners in the New Forest. These talks will cover the following general themes:
Nov 6th – the local heritage of New Forest homes
Nov 20th – Cob, thatch, flint and stone
Dec 4th – Bricks, mortar, plasters and renders
Jan 15th – Timber framed buildings and timber roof structures
Jan 29th – Tile, slate and lead roof coverings
Feb 12th – Building details and finishes (windows, doors and internal joinery)
An overview of this talk
-Introduction to your local heritage of buildings
-Researching the history of your building
-Common causes and problems with decay
-Basic approach to building maintenance
Venue: Brockenhurst Village Hall, Highwood Road, Brockenhurst, SO42 7RY.
Directions: Brockenhurst Village Hall is found on Highwood Road, which is just off Sway Road in Brockenhurst. Please see map for exact location.
Parking: Ample parking available at Brockenhurst Village Hall, free of charge.
Time: The course will start at 7pm until 9.30pm so please arrive at 6.45pm for a prompt start.
Cost: There will be a fee of £5 per evening, or £25 for all six evenings.
Refreshments: Tea, coffee and cake provided.
