CLIMATE EMERGENCY MEETING – Turn challenge into opportunity

Climate change is the greatest challenge of our times. It is vital that action is taken to avoid dangerous climate breakdown and damage to the natural world. Yet action also brings opportunities for: energy independence, unpolluted water and air, reversing wildlife decline, better health for humans, liveable towns and cities, and jobs created in sustainable technologies.

The meeting will include:

Introduction to Climate Emergency by Kate Chapman, Local Environmental Consultant

  • Kate is a consultant to the sustainability and environmental sector. She was appointed sustainability advisor to the London 2012 Olympic Games, and has since worked as a consultant with a wide range of large and small organisations. She has recently been involved in making representations to local authorities on climate change

Address on Zero Carbon Britain by Paul Allen from the Centre for Alternative Technology, Wales

  • Paul will introduce CAT’s plan to stop using carbon fuels and achieve zero carbon by 2030 with current technology. This integrated approach explores all aspects of climate solutions, from renewable energy and energy efficiency to diets and land-use, looking at how these can work together to help us build a healthier and sustainable zero carbon world
