Brockenhurst & Sway Day Care Centre

The Day Centre is an independent self-funding Day Centre run under the auspices of Age Concern Hampshire.

The group, for up to 15 people, who are referred through the local Surgeries, meets every Friday at the Village Hall in Brockenhurst, with various activities, entertainments and outings arranged throughout the year.

The Centre is staffed by a manager, a cook and a team of dedicated volunteers.

What does a typical day look like?

Every day is different, but you can expect it to be like this:

  • A wheelchair-accessible minibus will come and pick you up from your house to take you to our day centre. Most Age UKs offer this optional transport service.
  • Settle into the centre over a cup of tea and a chat
  • Morning activities will begin
  • A freshly-prepared hot lunch will be served by our staff
  • More activities will be organised for after lunch
  • When the day is over, the minibus will drop you back at your house at an agreed time.

The Cinema is in the Forest Hall. The doors open at 7pm and the evening programme begins at 7.30. After a short film or two and a trailer for the next film, there is an interval when you can chat with friends while enjoying a glass of wine, ice creams, coffee, tea, cake etc. before settling down to watch the main film.

Doors open at 7.00pm with a bar and refreshments available.

Past and present intertwine as a pregnant Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is busy re-launching her mother’s tavern while husband Sky is away in New York. Flashbacks show us how the Dynamos were formed and how Donna (Lily James) met Sophie’s three putative fathers. And Cher plays Sophie’s maternal grandmother, Ruby Sheridan. If you loved the first film you’ll certainly adore this one.

Also visit www.moviola.org or text CINEMA [your name] to 60095 (e.g. CINEMA Jane Brown) to be reminded by text of future screenings. All texts are free. Notifications can be cancelled at any time
