Moviola presents: Journey’s End (12A)
Don’t miss Moviola’s screening of Journey’s End (12A)
The Cinema is in the Forest Hall. The doors open at 7pm and the evening programme begins at 7.30. After a short film or two and a trailer for the next film, there is an interval when you can chat with friends while enjoying a glass of wine, ice creams, coffee, tea, cake etc. before settling down to watch the main film.
Doors open at 7.00pm with a bar and refreshments available.
This film show is one of our village events to commemorate the end of WWI in November 1918 – one hundred years ago. Journey’s End is adapted from R.C. Sherriff’s classic play, based on his own experiences on the battle front. Set in a dugout in Aisne in 1918, it is the story of a group of British officers, led by the mentally disintegrating young officer, Stanhope (Sam Caflin) as they await their fate. Stanhope’s six day command encompasses a major offensive but when old school chum and family friend, Raleigh, is drafted into his unit, then routine events become emotionally messier…. Asa Butterfield is this fresh young lieutenant just arrived in the trenches – bright eyed, bushy tailed and super keen…. Toby Jones’ cook, Mason, provides welcome world-weary comic relief. Paul Bettany is the older, wiser Osborne.
